A bigot simply pre-judges while a racist hates due to a beliefe that the (fill in the blank) is simply inferior to him/her.  

The result?  The (fill in the blank) doesn't get the job, promotion, etc 

I tried to make that argument.  Focus on the results.  Either way, you don't get the job, or get shackled, or whatever.

You might.  I could tell from about a hundred yards I think.  Plus you can read that name on the resume.  The way somebody is dressed.  The jewelry.  All sorts of clues.  I can tell Chinese from Japanese from Koreans from Thais from Philippinos, etc.  Viets, Cambodians, etc.  May need to hear them speak for ten seconds or so, but usually by the look, dress, etc.


I would just focus on;

• Does the person feel he is inately superior to the other person, whom he considers inately inferior due to race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc.

What semantics you use to distract from that-  or developing some ludicrous "ranking system" is the folly of fools.

I will have to look and see what it was for, but NBC reported another 30 billion for something else.  Might have been unemployment extensions (again).  Point is, it was 80 billion in new spednign for 2013.

As for your 800 billion, there is not even close to a gurantee of that, and it does not even cover 2012's deficit before factoriing in inflation and interest.  Heck even the initial 80 billion is speculation.

If they just called the Winter Solstice, which is where christmas comes from, that would be more appropriate.

As a fellow atheist, why should our traditions have to be changed to accomodate your feelings?  The majority want to celebrate Christmas.  No one is saying you cannot celebrate what you want too.

And no one is saying that can't celebrate what you want to.  Why is the gov't chosing?  Why should I be denied a chance to go to work, get my mail, etc just because the majority believe in magic?

Maybe but you do know that every president has extended benefits when unemployment is above 6%.  Maybe next year we will not have to do it if you go with Obama's plan.  The extension is to keep in place the benefits for 99 weeks or until a person gets a job.  The benefit quickly goes back into the economy.

Sorry the left cares about people.  The right cares about the rich.  One of the best ways to stimulate the economy is extending unemployment benefits.  Or we could give the savings to the rich.  gas, that is a joke in case you didn't understand.

yep, let's do nothing because gas sees the future.  2012 deficit was $1.1 trillion and fiscal 2012 is over.

Sec, not the same.  Racism became ingrained in a society.  Bigotry is more about fools thinking that they are better.

Also racism has put a group of people behind every other American for centuries.  The repair of that will still take a long time.  Jews have been discriminated for centuries too but they can generally pass for other whites.

No it's not symbolic other than it shows their lack of committment to do the right thing.  You and I both know that at some point we will get involved in another war.  Should that happen we will need more revenue and the only way it's going to happen is tax increases...period.  The two recent wars we've been involved in have IOU'd us to death.  

However, more than 4.9% excapes taxation right now.  Further, the tax code is currently way to complicated so that any increase will largely be avoided through various measures by the one actually paying the increase.

And you don't think tax lawyers in the future won't figure out loopholes regardless of tax code revisions for the rich?  Everytime in the past (in the long run) tax code revisions have always helped the rich and the middle class has always gotten the green weinie

Gas, I'm truly offering no "fear tactic".  Just as you don't trust Obama with more taxes for the rich, I will NEVER trust Congress to do what is right for the middle class with tax revisions because it's seldom if ever happened in the past.  Said revisions have always benefited the rich.

So, getting fair equitable tax code revision may happen but I don't think it stands a chance to get put on the books.  We  need to resove the fiscal cliff issues now and we don't need something muddling it up for another 10 years on the assumption that it's going to help long term.
