Boise inks deal with UT Martin in 2013

February 22, 2012 4:42 am

This is reported by UT Martin but not BSU. Could be it's not true? Hopefully not. But a UF fan should not throw stones. UF plays an FCS school on a regular basis. The last five years in a row in fact, Jacksonville St., Furman, Appalachian St., Charleston Southern, The Citadel. Another hypocrytical post by the Lass.

Boise inks deal with UT Martin in 2013

February 22, 2012 5:07 am

Typical misinformed and hypocritical post from Lass. UT Martin  has announced the game on their schedule. Boise is saying it's a not a done deal. Nothing has been "inked". Now lets look at UF's recent schedule:

2006 Western Carolina FCS
2007 Western Kentucky FCS (at the time)
2008 The Citadel FCS
2009 Charleston Southern FCS
2010 Appalachian St. FCS
2011 Furman FCS
2012 Jacksonville St. FCS
2013 Georgia St. FCS
2014 Eastern Kentucky FCS

Hopefully this game won't happen but if it does, a UF fan has no room to talk.

No BamaTime, that website has nothing to do with BSU. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, I'm saying the title of this thread is intentionally misleading. Again, BSU is still saying not a done deal.

And yet, UF has had a signficiantly stronger strength of schedule in the last 5 years than Boise.

Hope this helps!

Look, hero, the game has been reported and confirmed by the UT Martin sports information department.  If you want to cling to some hope that this is really just a bad dream and Boise couldn't have possibly scheduled these guys, be my guest.  Sorry if the rest of us don't buy into your delusion.

And, again, let me know when Boise's strength of schedule is better than UF's.  Thanks!

No, "intentionally misleading" is the open-mouthed segment of your fanbase wasting its time on message boards across the internet chastising fans of other teams for the very scheduling practices Boise holds true to its heart.

If you want to police something, I'd suggest you spend your time on the intellectual flatliners in your group rather than thread titles on CBS.com.

But I'm going to keep poking fun of the kids in the Boise sweaters with drool on their chin either way.

Boise inks deal with UT Martin in 2013

Personally, I was sad to hear this as a BSU fan, then I put myself in the position of the management of BSU. 2013 being the year we enter the BE, BSU is doing what most AQ teams do in the other major conferences; play a patsy in week one. I could put a positive spin on this, saying this is a complement. We will have arrived per se. Getting the same treatment as the current majors, doing one and dones.

What it does to the SOS remains to be seen, the season is two years away. As for the current OOC for BSU, some of our opponents were scheduled year's ago prior to BSU's emergence as a good football team. But over the last few years we have been scheduling better opponents. I will not argue with anyone that BSU is better than...we are just a program that is growing up. I also ponder, will there always be dissension towards BSU after we are in a AQ conference, a bigger stadium and better facilities? I suppose it doesn't really matter.

@Gator Lass, why are are you being so hard on BSU? I remember last season you were more objective and nicer to BSU and their fanbase. As I mentioned in a previous post if BSU were to go to the BE this season, we could possibly play the WVU schedule and FSU.

Here's a little Gator support from of all people a Buckeye fan.

Don't the Gators in most seasons play either Florida State or Miami (or both) out of conference?  I went back 10 years, and they always played the Seminoles, with The U also on their schedule at least 3 times.  Throw in games against UCF (C-USA), South Florida (Big East), Florida International or Florida Atlantic (both Sun Belt), each of whom they played at least once in the last 10 years, and you can see why they don't have to leave Florida very often for out of conference games.  Would it be nice to see Florida venture out of state once in a while to play someone?  Yeah, but they have enough decent competition in state that they don't really have to.  And I may be mistaken, but they may have some pushback from the Florida legislature to always play FSU.

Why are any of you suprised by this revelation.  Boise St has always played FCS schools.  In 2009 the 14-0 Broncos played FCS UC Davis.  In 08 against Idaho St, Weber St in 07, CS Sacramento in 06 and  Portland St in 05.  I do find it funny that Boise St fans are always on here complaining about how all the big schools practice this and actully have the nerve to get defensive when their team is found guilty of the same thing.   Boise St is one of the biggest offenders of this practice.

Ulosesucker,

Don't take it personally or necessarily against Boise.  I've found you to be a good poster on this board.  And I don't have anything more against the Broncos than I do any other school.  Any football program that is committed to being successful is going to engage in the same practices as any other equally committed football program.  Only a fool would attempt to discern some difference.

And this thread is directed at those fools.

No....No....NO, this can't be true.  I don't believe it.  After days of Smiley calling every school who schedules 1-AA's cowards and hearing about how he had written a letter to ensure that Boise would no longer schedule 1-AA opponents, this just can't be true.  Afterall, he wrote a letter for goodness sake! To the other Boise poster on this thread, I think that was Gator Lass' purpose of the post.  I don't think any of us like playing 1-AA teams but we sure as hell ain't going to take grief about it from a WAC school who also plays 1-AA schools, with seemingly more regularity than he would like to admit, or be called out on.  It is not so much a shot at Boise as it is at guys like that.  Well, it is for me anyway.

@botta getta, who started this thread? I was merely pointing out the irony of the pot calling the kettle black. I'm cetainly not calling UF out for their SOS. Just wondering why this particular scheduling practice is accepted for other teams but not BSU.
