Courts could inject chaos into fragile NFL labo...

First there was an 80% chance of settling, now it looks like the courts are going to have to settle it for all the little crybabies in NFL land. Just what the hell is wrong is wrong with all of you? I'm now talking to both the NFL and the NFLPA. You both whine and bitch and moan about every single thing trying to get public opinion on your side. I have a news flash for you, the public doesn't give a tinkers damn about who gets what. You've both lost public opinion. So just sit down and get the stupid thing done. Before you both, in your infinite wisdom, shoot the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Here is to losing fans because the NFL players and Owners don't realize that it is not about them, it is about the fans. Here's to the greed that the NFL gives back to us. Such great role models they are for our kids. Cheers!

Does anyone genuinely believe that Mr. Freeman has reliable contacts on the NFL Owners bargaining team? Up 'till now he has consistently invoked the opinions of of his Demigod, Demaurice Smith, a questionable asset.

The point? There is not a single specific in this article. What are they fighting about? Apparently Mike Freeman does not know. The 8th circuit ruling for the players? The court itself has already addressed that this is a labor issue and not an anti-trust issue in their preliminary overturn of the lifting of the lockout. As for Judge Doty? Any decision he makes must also be reviewed by the appellate court. It is clear the players have shopped for District judges who are progressive and anti-business. However, the appellate courts are different (except for the 9th circuit) and actually look at the merits.

People like mjb1964200 is why our country has such a huge gap between the rich and poor. Dimes to dollars the guy is a day trader and has never worked a hard days work in his life. Another parasite. Greed is the cause of this stoppage. Both parties were making money hand over fist, yet the greedy owners want more of the pie? It's not like they are out there playing.

It would be nice if they settled this like mature men. IF not we can always watch Penn State Women's volleyball try win another National Championship, in what used to be a West Coast dominated game.

As someone who has been involved in this sort of thing from almost every aspect (as a fan, a player, a scab) I can honestly tell you this...I don't care if the strikes of any professional sport are ever settled or avoided again and quite frankly I won't even watch when they do resume to play. I am tired of billionaires and millionaires squabbling over amounts of money that I can only dream of. The majority of people in this country can't even feed their families/pay their rent/put gas in their cars/etc on a regular basis without creative juggling of their finances. Why do I care if Joe Basketballer gets a salary cap of 10 million dollars instead of 20 million? Why do I care if an NFL owner only makes 100 million in profit on a season instead of 200 million? I'm out fellas!!!!!!! No more fantasy sports for me, no going to games (not that I ever did...I havent paid to go to a live event in 8 yrs and havent been to a live game since 2004). If the fans of these sports wanna be heard they need to send a clear message....and that is "we're through with you petty millionaires". Don't go to games/don't buy team apparel/don't buy NFL package on tv/don't even watch free games on tv. Then the owners lose their sponsors and all revenues and the players have no jobs. Let's see how Timmy Footballer does getting a job for decent money in this economy after having no job skills for umteen years. This world is going to be hell in a handbasket soon enough (soup kitchens, homelessness, anarchy). Start preparing now for no anything except finding a shelter and your next meal. Screw these wealthy elitist nutjobs...the'y dont know how good they have it.

Carpshade,
Playing has nothing to do with it. It is there business, and when times get tough they are the one's that stand to lose money, not the players. Everyone acts like because the NFL is really successful now that this will always be the case. Take a quick look at the real estate market. People had been saying for years that real estate never goes down because it didn't for so long. 10 years later, and it is one of the weakest sectors of the economy. The owners and players are both looking to the future, and they should be. Both make plenty of money, but this is not an issue about greed. It is merely an issue of dividing up a lot of money. If it were a very small amount of money people would say that they were being petty too. Just because they make a lot of money does not mean that they should have to give it all away. If I were to say one side was more greedy than the other I would say it were the players, but they have a right to earn money too since they were a pretty big part of what made the NFL so big.
Both sides deserve to be paid for what they have done with this amazing business. They have taken a sport that had the local high school marching band playing half-time at the superbowl 25 years ago, and made it a multi-billion dollar enterprise. This whole thing about greed has been blown out of proportion. Just because they make a lot of money doesn't mean they shouldn't care about it.

snacks 33...I feel the same way to a point. If the teams cancel games, business and jobs are effected. The people running the concessions, ticket takers, and others lose jobs. Business around the stadiums lose money. These are the people I feel sorry for.

Chaos? Once the 8th court rules, one side will have a major advantage and the other side will be forced to accept terms to some degree. My position still stands though, this is the players fault. The players brought the courts into this.
