Listening to some new Replacements covering a Gordon Lightfoot song on the money raising release Songs For Slim, an effort to help former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap who had a massive stroke earlier this year.  Dunlap has, and will continue to incur substantial medical bills as he is likely to need around the clock care for the rest of his life.

Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS in 2004. 
Said his partner Dan Navarro : “We were never really huge, but we went on for a long time,” adding of  Lowen: “He said, ‘I want to keep going.’ We managed five years, 250 shows and three albums. After the diagnosis.” Lowen had to be carried on and off stage for each performance.  Other artists on the album include Jackson Browne, The Bangles, and John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting.
