WR Shepard runs a reverse; returning to LSU

In the same way that LSU's Russell Shepard insinuated that he was leaving for the NFL or transferring to another program, the junior wide receiver reversed himself and announced that he will be returning to the Tigers for his senior season.

"I would like to tell everyone that I had a great talk with my family and Coach Miles and I will be attending LSU for my senior season..."

This stands in direct contrast to the tweet Shepard sent out following Monday night's loss to Alabama in the BCS Championship.

It read: "Thanks for your support Tiger Nation...but I have to do what's best for my family and myself...Geaux Tigers."

From the beginning Shepard's comments appeared to have more to do with his frustration for seeing just three snaps in the LSU's loss rather than having had gained positive feedback from NFL scouts.

Shephard, a highly recruited quarterback and wide receiver prospect out of high school, flashed some big play ability throughout his career with the Tigers but had been passed up on the depth chart. His junior season was marred by an early suspension and he caught just 14 passes in 2011 for 190 yards and four touchdowns.

With fellow junior receiver Rueben Randle off to the NFL, Shepard's chances at having a much stronger role in 2012 is good. Randle led the team in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns and that production will have to go somewhere. At this point Shepard is NFLDraftScout.com's No. 12 ranked receiver in the class of 2013.

In my opinion, Mr. Shepard would do better to worry about what he can do to improve his game, and be more of a team player, than how many snaps he gets or balls thrown to him. He has never lived up to hype about him. Maybe with some focus and hard work in the off season he can. Im sure he will get his fair share with Mr. Mettenberger. Geaux Tigers.

tOSU gives tatoos we do not pay players directly.  Get your facts straight.

The SEC pays a lot of money, too, especially Bammer, but it's usually the women who are the deciding factor.  Sorry, OSU fans, but northerners do NOT know how to give "southern hospitality."

The women?  ha The women from the noth move south and out west because they know they are not only the best looking but the smartest.  As far as southern hospitality, if you want to brag that your girls are easy you go right ahead.

Where is this pay for play coming from? Anyone that has seen Shepard play should be able to see he's not getting paid, good Lord the guy is not the best receiver on the team, 3rd at best

Paying players?

Ohio State pays better than everyone but maybe USC.  But the SEC has much better looking women, and they are often the deciding factor.  Urban Meyer reportedly had a "tandem" work on a recruit a few years ago.  The recruit went somewhere else, but it definitely was a great concept.

It's funny: SEC teams can get away with calling themselves "Bulldogs" or "Gators."  OSU can't get away with it because most of their cheerleaders would be confused for mascots.  They had to get artificial turf so that the cheerleaders would stop grazing.

Really an Ohio State fan would make a comment about a school paying players? Really I mean I don't get it, after your school has been proven to be dirty!!! I mean really that just goes to show how smart you are buddy.  And to the WVU fan it's OK you school got their ass beat by the Tigers this year and I was there to see WV fans have NO class and a cry baby for a coach.  Maybe someday you will have a relevant sports program
