Cowboys' Blackmon: 'It's that time to go' to NFL

Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon is NFLDraftScout.com's top-rated receiver for the 2012 NFL Draft, and he indicated he's ready to move on to the next level after the Cowboys play Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.

"I'm pretty sure that it will be (my last game)," Blackmon told ESPN.com.

A finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, Blackmon has 113 catches for 1,337 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

"I think it's just time," he said when asked why he's ready to turn pro. "It's that time to go. I came back last year to win a Big 12 championship, set us up for a BCS bowl and I think we did that."

Rob Rang has Blackmon going No. 2 overall to St. Louis in his current mock draft, but he'll have to put together solid on-field workouts and off-field interviews between now and the draft.

Blackmon has good size at 6-1, 212 pounds, is physical and has as strong a pair of hands as and receiver in the country. But he lacks great top-end speed, has a DUI arrest in 2010 and is fighting the history of former stud OSU receivers such as Adarius Bowman and Rashaun Woods who flamed out in the NFL.

Blackmon could find early success in the NFL using his physicality out of the slot on slants and crossing patterns, and he's a strong runner who can make defenders miss in the open field.

ESPN sure got a big break on that story... funny since OSU introduced the Junior at Senior Day before playing OU....

Good thing you guys are not GMs.  Everyone (except the cbs community) knows you do not take WRs early in the drafts.  Please look at the Steelers as an example.

Having wathced most every game, I think the scouts will drop him down to 5 or 6, unless St Louis gets a shot at him.  He has fumbled a couple of times going into the endzone.  Teams might be a little worried about him fumbling after the catch.  I think this will not happen in the NFL.  He knows that all the db's try to strip it on every tackle.  Same in college, but they aren't fast enough generally to get to him and attempt the strip.  He will be about the same as Crabtree is in SF.

As if this wasn't the worst kept secret...anyone that saw Ok St and Ok heard during the broadcast that he was honored with the Seniors during Senior Night...Ok St already knew he was leaving weeks (if not months) ago.  Oh that's right, CBS doesn't get out around the Big 12 very much...there is life outside the SEC.

Good luck....he'll need it with the Rams or Browns

Why are the older busts mentioned but not the current success of the more recent Dez Bryant?

If the Rams tank the rest of the season they will have second pick and draft Blackmon.

The Texans could trade every pick in the draft to move up and it still wouldn't be enough to get to #2. From where the Texans will be drafting you are looking at moving some nearly 30 spots. We saw how it went with the Falcons with Julio Jones. Texans have issues at QB. Coming back from the Lis Frank injury is very difficult. Check the history of the injury.
