Supplemental draft order to be determined Sunday

The selection order for Monday's supplemental draft will be determined by a weighted lottery conducted by the league Sunday morning, NFLDraftScout.com has learned.

Unlike the televised April draft in which the order is determined simply by the won/loss percentage from the preceding season, the supplemental draft order is determined by a lottery in which the league's 32 teams are slotted into three "groups." These groups are determined by the same won/loss percentage, but are thought to take into account the annual fluctuation of talent for clubs that occurs through the draft and free agency each off-season.

Therefore, while the Carolina Panthers owned the first pick last year, Ron Rivera's club will be competing with roughly a third of the league for the first pick of each round of the supplemental draft. Teams afterward will be informed of the order.

There won't be a televised version of this draft. The entire thing is conducted via email. To put in a tender on a player, teams simply email the league with a list of the players they'd draft and the round in which they'd take them. Thus, in this blind auction type-format, teams do not know immediately whether or not their "offer" was good enough to land the player. Following the "conclusion" of the draft, teams will be notified of the results.

Any team that used a supplemental draft pick would then lose the corresponding selection in the regular draft the following April.

The draft will be conducted on Monday, August 22. There are six players eligible for selection. Alphabetically, they are: Western Carolina cornerback Torez Jones, Georgia running back Caleb King, Lindenwood University/Allen Wranglers (IFL) defensive end Keenan Mace, North Carolina defensive end Michael McAdoo, Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Northern Illinois safety Tracy Wilson.
